Rough Draft for "OPA"

Here is the first rough draft for the book cover of the childrens book I am working on...just a tease...Let me know what you think ....

George Carlin quotes

George Carlin

"I often think how different the world would be if Hitler had not been turned down when he applied to art school."

"Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer and burn and scream until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you and he needs money."

"Instead of warning pregnant women not to drink, I think female alcoholics ought to be told not to fuck. "

and many many more.....

additional Apple pie info

This is the German version, well one of many Apfelkuchen! This is the kind my grandmother would make.
Here the American version, very simular...

And here the Austrian version known as Appelstrudel, this would be my personal favourite! Yummy for sure!

Amsterdam New Years 2008-2009

and another reminder!
We are going to spend New years in Amsterdam with friends and family, everybody is welcome!
We found a cheap hotel, about $60 a night if you share the room with somebody, but I do not know how much longer that price is available?

Springbreak in DC

So we decided we are not going to England and not going skiing but going to Bill's favourite city Washington DC for a few days.

We will be there a week before Cherryblossom festival so hopefully they will be already out and pretty.

As American as apple pie...

that is such a stupid saying! FYI "the first apple trees were cultivated many thousands of years ago near the modern city of Alma-Ata in Kazakhstan, part of the former Soviet Union. The earliest European settlers brought apple seeds and trees with them to New England."
So apple pie is Russian!
Anyways, I am no McCain fan but now there is suddenly this controversy , if he is even eligible to run for president because he was born in Panama...common people!?

“No person except a natural born citizen,
shall be eligible to the office of President”

"John McCain was born August 29, 1936 in the Panama Canal Zone, to two U.S. citizens. It’s a common misunderstanding that the zone was a U.S. territory - in fact, the U.S. had lease rights, but not territorial rights.
The US Constitution states, “No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.”

I think that is just silly, let him run and lose against my favourite Obama, whose father is from Africa, which does not make him unable to run for presidency according to the laws.

Some laws just need to be changed and updated.

Since I am European I guess that makes me more like an apple pie then an American? Right? Or does that make an apple pie more like me, or am I more American because apple pie is more like me then .......
I do like apple pie:) The German kind that is!

Maya Alley

here some pictures of my Materials and Lighting class. We had to texture and light objects in a 3D scene in Maya so it would look like an alley... here my results.
I did not think that I would like this class, but it is a lot of fun. Textures are very interesting. I am starting to look at objects differently. Our teacher made us aware of how the world around us all has differently textures.
...this sounds so goofy, but take a look at your driveway, the cracks, dirt, left over water from the melting snow, salt residues etc...and than try to imagine you have to recreate that on a painting...and make it look real!

new house

Here some random pictures of the new house in Sherwood Forrest in Highland Park. We are moving April 25th. It is a beautiful house. We have 2.5 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, a finished basement, a big yard, 2 car garage....I just love it. It is open and bright and pretty and I am getting great vibes from the house. There is a wonderful family with 3 kids living in it right now and the house definitely gives up love waves of happy times!
We are going to change a few things like adding hardwood floor...it will change through time ....
We are super happy and very excited and will have a huge housewarming party once it gets warmer, probably around Memorial day! hope to see you all there! Come and visit!

Rent

We just got home from watching "Rent" in downtown Chicago at the theater. It was amazing.

Rent is a rock musical, with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of the Bohemian East Village, under the shadow of AIDS.
Rent, which won an
American Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize, was one of the first Broadway musicals to feature lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender characters. In addition, its cast was notably ethnically diverse.

It is a must see. I loved it!!!
