Popes Christmas speech

Pope attacks blurring of gender

Pope Benedict has called for "an ecology of the human being"
Pope Benedict XVI has suggested that the need to save mankind from a destructive blurring of gender roles is as important as saving the rainforests.

He explained that defending God's creation was not limited to saving the environment, but also about protecting man from self-destruction.

The Pope was delivering his end-of-year address to senior Vatican staff.

His words, later released to the media, emphasised his rejection of gender theory.

Speaking on Monday, Pope Benedict XVI warned that gender theory blurred the distinction between male and female and thus could lead to the "self-destruction" of the human race.

The speech has provoked anger from campaigners, who have interpreted the remarks as a call to save mankind from homosexuals and transsexuals.

Gender theory

Gender theory explores sexual orientation, the roles assigned by society to individuals according to their gender, and how people perceive their biological identity. Rainforests deserve, yes, our protection, but the human being ... does not deserve it less

Gay and transsexual groups, particularly in the United States, promote it as a key to understanding and tolerance, but the Pope disagreed.

When the Roman Catholic Church defends God's Creation, "it does not only defend the earth, water and the air... but (it) also protects man from his own destruction," he said.

"Rainforests deserve, yes, our protection, but the human being ... does not deserve it less," the pontiff said.

It is not "out-of-date metaphysics" to "speak of human nature as 'man' or woman'", he told scores of prelates gathered in the Vatican's sumptuous Clementine Hall.

"We need something like human ecology, meant in the right way."

The Catholic Church opposes gay marriage. It teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful, homosexual acts are.

Rev Sharon Ferguson, chief executive of Britain's Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, described the Pope's remarks as "totally irresponsible and unacceptable".

"When you have religious leaders like that making that sort of statement then followers feel they are justified in behaving in an aggressive and violent way," she said.

Unbelievable...
Sorry I am so behind on this story...I don't even pay attention to the pope anymore. Does anybody still care? I think the power of the catholic church is shrinking.
It's their own fault, instead of going forward it is going backwards.
The pope saying ignorant things about homosexuality?
We know better then to listen to him.
I am just shaking my head in disbelieve.

Weekly Address of the president

Intro to my demo reel-work in progress

video
I am currently working on my demo reel for school because I am going to graduate in March. I am behind in time because... first I went to the Inauguration in DC (so worth it) and then my computer got posessed by evil demon trojan virus thingys, which took a couple of days for the Geek Squad to get out of her= (Big Bertha, The Beast or also known as Tanja's computer). She is all better now and I got to work yesterday. Here are my beginnings to my Intro , all done in Flash...
I still think I need more in-betweens...(animation talk..yep, I can do that now lol)...

The official Illinois Inaugural Ball..

This was a very weired ball experience and I am so happy that we had done the "unofficial" Inaugural African ball the night before, because that had been the best experience ever.
This ball was some kind of a fair/conference but everybody was dressed up. We had about 3 rooms with music: jazz/ blues band, a "disco" and a pop room with Michael Jackson songs band...we had a lot of fun, but it was NOTHING like I had expected.
We met really cool and amazing people and even saw some famous people. Bill Murray was dancing in the "disco" room. They also had a "Kraft" corner with free Trail mix, UNO pizza room, dessert room, Route 66 walk...etc...people got a "shopping" bag with free stuff...we also ran out of free alcohol and glasses, so here also my "classy" picture with soda can and "shopping" bag!

Metro on the way back to the hotel at 2 am. Lots of people were wearing tuxes and dresses!

it took us over 2 hours to get in...but we got to meet really interresting people while in line...lol

Angelique Kidjo. I love her music. We chose this Inaugural Ball because of her and Les Nubians performances. It was great to actually meet her in person. She is an amazing person and a great inspiration.

help! Which one is your favourite dress? Please let me know by tomorrow morning! Thanks

green with little flower detail on right shoulder, very simple but cute.
black with glitter detail on right, hard to tell in picture, also cute.

green with black lace over it, looks 50 ish. I like it a lot. I think I can even get away with flat shoes to stress the 50's look and I will be comfy to dance.

grey with glitter and Pearl detail on neck. I would wear it with silver shoes and bracelet.
All dresses are short which is cute for my height but I have pretty banged up knees right now from ice skating with Marlon...oh well I guess...I hate pantyhose , but it is going to be so cold in DC so I think I will wear tights which I will take off in the bathroom, because at the coat check just seems tacky! Right?
